Exhibit - A Selection of Soldiers' Bibles

The Museum of Biblical Art (MOBIA) is hosting a current called "Finding Comfort in Difficult Times: A Selection of Soldiers' Bibles." The exhibit lasts from February 3 through may 20, 2012.

Oliver Cromwell first presented soldiers with bibles in 1643. The Soldiers Pocket bible was a 32 page pamphlet including verses mostly from the old testament. During the American Civil War, the American Bible Society started distributing pocket bibles with the New Testament or entire bible.

Today soldiers' bibles come in many formats. http://www.amazon.com/SOLDIERS-BIBLE-Devotional-Personnel-Slide-Tab/dp/1586401017/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330368581&sr=8-1
